Murko's Deed 2009

After four years of voluntary work, for its contribution in the collection, preservation and presentation of the cultural heritage, the Society for the Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Alexandrian Women was awarded a prestigious award from the field of ethnology in Slovenia, the Murko's Deed. The Slovene Ethnological Society which confers three awards for top professional achievements from the field of ethnology in Slovenia on an annual basis, selected the Society for the Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Alexandrian Women as a nominee for 2009. The solemn evening when awards were conferred took place in Ptuj on 12 November 2009. The award was conferred by the President of the Commission, Marko Terseglav and taken over on behalf of the Society by its President, Dejana Baša.

The award means a lot to the members, it is a recognition of their efforts in preserving varied and rich heritage. By means of numerous voluntary activities we have made Alexandrian women recognized and known by Slovenians, across the Slovenian borders and among the top experts. We are proud that the Slovene Ethnographic Society and Slovene Ethnographic Museum which had nominated our Society believed in our work and evaluated it as successful.
